After a walk around the town and a restful night’s sleep it was on to Flat Lake on Fort Peak Dam where we dry camped for 2 nights. As it is very early in the season, we had the campground to ourselves.
We parked right on the lake and had a beautiful view. The downsides were that the wind blew like crazy, it was fairly cold, and after a walk we returned to the trailer covered with ticks.
We did enjoy being serenaded by the meadow lark and were entertained by the mating ritual and squaring off of 2 male pheasants just outside our door. There were some huge birds in a nest at the top of a very tall pole, but their eerie was so far above us that we could not make out what they were exactly.
