Montana to Minnesota Cousins

We stayed in Valley City, North Dakota last night and woke up to freezing temperatures and blowing snow. Thinking that we may have headed out too early in the season for these northern areas we pushed on to Minnesota. We stayed for 3 days in Wayzata MN at the home of Carol and David Nitz. David is a distant cousin of mine on my mom’s side. They treated us to fabulous food and great conversation, and leisurely bicycle rides around the area where they live, which is beautiful and in full bloom. We also learned a lot about family history which was very interesting. We also took a tour of Minneapolis which is quite a lovely city with many city parks around small lakes throughout the city. Minnesota certainly called the state of a 1000 lakes for a reason. We were treated on Mother’s Day to a relaxing and blissful boat ride in the Nitz’s boat on Lake Minnetonka and dinner at a nice restaurant on the water.

We also visited cousins of mine, Kelly and Aric and their 3 boys who were so fun to watch and interact with. Kelly’s sister and her husband also dropped over to see us. Kelly fed us yet another wonderful dinner. We decided we need to spend some time away from family before we each gain 50 pounds. They have all fed us well!

  1. Marv & Ellen,

We enjoyed your visit and envy your full-time, see-the-world lifestyle. Come back next winter and we'll cruise some of Minnesota's "10,000" lakes (not just 1,000). Do you really want to sweat in Florida? Besides, they might put you to work cleaning up the oil on the beaches. Ice fishing anyone?

    Dave
