When we returned we went to visit the Denali Sled Dogs, which is free demonstration in the park. This is the only park that still uses sled-dog teams to patrol the park in the winter for safety and poachers. It is amazing the power they have and the speed with which they can pull a sled. The ranger explained that the dogs they breed here are the long-legged, larger dogs as they must break trails in deep snow. We noticed that they were much larger than the sled-dogs at Susan Butcher’s kennel in Fairbanks that are used for racing.
As you can see they are very relaxed in their pens. When we returned we went to visit the Denali Sled Dogs, which is free demonstration in the park.
