On our way into Hazelton BC we crossed the Hagwilget Canyon Bridge, a 1-lane bridge spanning Hagwilget Canyon with the Bulkley River far below. Truly a magnificent suspension bridge, although not as amazing to us as pictures we saw of a plank bridge that used to span the canyon, constructed by the native Indians before white men arrived with their engineering knowhow.
We arrived at the ‘Ksan Kampground near Hazelton BC. This is where all the famous Totem Poles are located. The Ksan campground is located on the Indian Reservation and is the nicest one in the area. We spent 2 nights at a cost of $24 for full hook up per night. We were set up by 5pm time enough for a quick dinner and a walk to have our first commune with the very hungry mosquitoes. With a little research Marv discovered that it is only the females that bite and live on human and animal blood. Figures!
