We attended a play about the “Days of ‘98” taken from the Skagway historical record depicting the reign of Soapy Smith (a notorious con man) over the town during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897 and 1898. The events of Soapy’s demise were depicted with slap-stick comedy complete with dance hall girls and reluctant participation (here is one now) of a few in the audience. After having to dance the hoola at a luau in front of an audience in Hawaii, ( I did give everyone a chance to laugh) I was glad not to be picked for this performance. The poor guy who was picked was named Marvin as well.
