We awoke to a beautiful day on the shores of Muncho Lake. As this will likely be our last day with Internet we spent the morning doing school or work related activities that required us to be online.
In the afternoon we decided to take a hike to the top of a hill/mountain across the highway. We could see a white cross up there and went to investigate.
See the red arrow that is the cross
Since this is Stone Sheep country, we were in hopes of spotting some critters too. We felt like we were trying to emulate Stone Sheep as we hiked up (straight up) the trail leading to the top of the hill/mountain. It had to be a 20% grade. Now I know what the poor truck is saying when it has to go up hill with the 5ver!
We saw lots of evidence of sheep (poop),
It was a great hike and the views were amazing in all directions.
We could see our rig across the valley. It looked like a small speck and it was hard to believe that we had really hiked up this much elevation.
See the red arrow that is our rig!
The cross had an engraved inscription “Gone, but not forgotten. Mom, Dad, family and friends.” We figured someone had probably taken a fall from the mountain as the drop-off was very steep here.
The hike down was of course a knee jarring jog, but we arrived back at the RV invigorated and glad that we had taken time to enjoy Mother Nature.
Tomorrow up the road to Stone Mountain………….
