Today we visited two very interesting museums. The Hammer Museum (only one in the world) proved that all the types of hammers can be quite fascinating.
The greeter
lots of hammers from the last 300 yrs.
The first electric hammer!
The most unique, "The Husband trainer"
The Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center occupies the site of the original Presbyterian Mission to the Tlingit Indians. It displayed many beautiful and rare Chilkat blankets, beadwork, carvings and basketry and well as prized Native artifacts. There is also a section on the pioneering days of missionaries, miners and other early white settlers.
Between 4-6 PM every day, “The Crab Man” sells live crab for $5.00 each at the marina, about a 2 minute walk from our RV park. Today, we decided to try our hand at cooking crab by looking up the whole procedure up on the Internet.

VIDEO: Choosing dinner
Thankfully, the fellow that helped us with the crab asked if we’d like them cleaned, so of course we said “YES!”
VIDEO: Crab cleaning 101
After watching him, we feel confident that we could clean our own next time, plus it helped to just have the part we would eat, rather than the whole crab which probably would not have fit in our one and only soup/spaghetti pot. The other bonus is that we didn’t want to drop the live crab in boiling water, so it was a relief that the nice man did the deed of sending them to crab heaven for us.
It was also fun to watch all the cod fish come up to the edge of the dock to dine on the parts that we didn’t take, but that were thrown back as fish food.
Anyway, we had a yummy meal of very inexpensive, very fresh crab.

Now that our tummies are full, we’ll sign off and rest up for our trip on the ferry to Skagway tomorrow evening.
